That means there isn't a specialist respite holiday centre for the more than 86,000 children in the UK with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.
While some NHS organisations and local authorities do fund short breaks for children with life-limiting illnesses, many don't. And nowhere offers quite what Kids' Village will offer families.
Spending time in hospital as a seriously ill child can be a pretty terrifying & stressful experience. But the pressure on parents of children with life-limiting conditions is immense too.
Respite breaks relieve this stress, allowing families to spend time together and do the things that other families often take for granted.
